At Montalbano Furniture, we truly value the beauty of existing
church fixtures and believe in preserving that beauty in each step of the
restoration process. Our refinishing and restoration process begins with dismantling
pews from the church, approximately one third at a time. We then remove the
old finish completely by hand - no dip tanks are used! Pews are then taken
apart and repaired, patched, sanded, reglued, and reinforced. All missing
carvings, parts, and veneer work are created by hand to match the originals.
Next the pews undergo a 12-step fine furniture finishing process in a color
of your choice - we use twice the amount of finish as anyone else! All steps
of the refinishing process are performed in our factory spray booths to ensure
a clean and smooth surface and fine finish. The last step is to apply two
coats of a clear nitro polyurethane lacquer to give the pews a lasting beautiful
look.
Our extensive restoration and refinishing process results in a product of
remarkable quality and fine craftsmanship second to none.
